have an open claim with PIP (Postal Insurance Plan) which is the company that handles claims for stamps.com. I am thus far, incredibly unhappy with the way I’ve been treated like a crook. I sold a Mac PC in Nov, shipped and insured the parcel through stamps.com. I provided all requested documentation to PIP and reached out to the person handling my claim to let her know my buyer had returned the parcel to me in person, and it was available for inspection at my location if PIP requested salvage. The thanks I got for my helpfulness and business, was to have Employee, Annielaurie Eimer, suddenly and without warning, transfer my claim to CPCU, CIC, ARM, which is the risk management department at PIP, that handles suspicious claims. It was stated my claim had “red flags” The PIP Worker Lisa D Lash reached out and me asked to not only provide additional documentation for my claim, not stated in the terms of service, but I was also asked to provide personal communication between me and my buyer. Text, messages, emails and such discussing the transaction. I declined this request as that is a complete over reach and a breech of not only my privacy, but my buyers privacy as well. I provided them with an invoice, original receipt for the computer, stamps.com receipt, photos, and an email from my buyer stating the computer was damaged and I made the item available to them for inspection anytime. More than sufficient enough evidence to process my claim. Furthermore, I was also asked very very personal questions and told by Lisa D Lash, if I refused to answer them my claim would be dismissed. It remains to be seen if my claim will be approved but I will definitely be closing my stamps.com account. Their insurance processor is problematic unfriendly, and suspicious of individual shippers and private sellers. Stamps.com is owned by eBay so I shouldn’t be to shocked. Hopefully, this won’t end with me having to get a lawyer. I refuse to support any business that treats their customers in such a disgraceful manner. After reading other complaints it seems as though they commonly use slimy tactics to avoid paying out claims.

After paying thousands of dollars for insurance coverage for our business, we learned that PIP insurance DOES NOT cover loss due to delay in delivery. If a parcel is supposed to be delivered in 2 to 3 days and does not arrive until day 7 and the contents is damage the shipper is NOT protected. READ ALL OF THEIR POLICY. THEY COVER VERY LITTLE.

Sold under false pretenses by Stamps.com as Stamps.com insurance and they are attempting to dodge valid claims. We have bought their service many times and they are asking for endless amounts of now non-relevant information concerning one claim. Process is now at the 2 week mark and the questions have gone from partially relevant to ridiculous. United States Postal Service has already paid their portion of the claim with no hassle. If you also have a problem with the guys be sure to file a complaint with the State of Montana and the State of California. Lets make sure these guys don’t last long. There are plenty of good insurance companies out there that want to do the right thing.

I am currently awaiting settlement of a claim, but, in the meantime, I have had occasion to speak with Jeannie, a claims representative. I have seldom encountered a more courteous, professional, knowledgeable about the process, person in any business. She should be head of public relations for this firm. This is the only claim I have ever had to make and i am dealing with a difficult, impatient buyer, so this PIP representative has been incredibly helpful in guiding me through the process.
    Thank you

Such a Fake company and fake policy. This company is offered through Stamps.com. But they don’t tell you what stupid policy they have up front for the claim. And their policy is not clear at all. One instruction says, you can file it after you received the coverage from usps and another line saying is you need to file it within 180 days. I had an international package get lost. Since it is international package it took months for USPS turned around and get partial of my claim paid and knowledge me to get the rest of the claim from PIP. Then when I turned in all the paperwork to PIP, they said deny because past 180 days. Such a stupid policy that do not make any sense at all.If I knew they were the one provided the insurance, I will not ship with stamps.com. I lost my package which was nearly 600 value. If I knew the case like this, I rather standing in the line at post office and get insurance from usps directly, even it takes longer to get paid but at least I get covered from usps. PIP is really bad company and really bad insurance policy and really bad customer service. You know what, entire company, only one person in the “claim department” Will NEVER NEVER NEVER use them again. This company do not deserve any good comment!!!!!!!!!!

They advertise how helpful they are then when you deal with the “office professionals” i.e. Jill, Lisa… they are so confrontational and for lack of a better word bitchy!! Will NEVER allow salvage business to participate in any dealings with PIP again. What a shame!

Avoid. Denied a $60 insurance claim for a questionable reason. If you want a real insurance plan, go with the USPS.

Shipping an $8.00 order to Africa makes no logistical sense. The shipping carrier should cover the cost of the shipment. Thats why it pays to use UPS or Fed Ex. USPS may be cheaper but it carries with it alot more risk. Good sense says don’t risk this for $8.00 in product.

This insurance is offered through Stamps.com shipping company and others, I am sure. Note that shipping itself is not covered. So if you are a small merchandiser, there is little point in using it for overseas transactions. Recently, for example, we shipped a lost package to Africa where the the cost of the merchandise was 8.00 and the shipping was around 32.00. So we still lost nearly the entire transaction, after purchasing insurance. It is undoubtedly a wiser choice to not ship to many locales, than to insure.
